Background

A strategic Barclays Wealth programme (now called Smart Investor), to replace the existing trader-focused stockbroking offering and move to a more mainstream offering for retail-banking customers. The platform was designed to encourage self-investing, to improve financial planning, to educate users – without providing advice. 

Process 

I led the UX for building and managing a user’s investment portfolio. I worked very closely with BAs and business SMEs (co-located) to review the existing systems and processes, define requirements, rapidly design concepts, refine requirements, prototype designs, and produce detailed design specifications to deliver into development sprints.

Team

Our team included UX, Customer Experience, Visual Design, Copy, Developers, Business Analysts, Behavioural Finance, Technical Architects and Propositions – all co-located. We also worked with teams in Glasgow and developers in Dallas as well as in the London office.
