The Economist – eCommerce re-platforming
« Back to Case Studies
Oct 2015 - Jan 2016
Background
The Economist needed to rebuild their eCommerce, and subscription management part of their product. This included a new back-end system to replace a collection of legacy systems, and support a new responsive front-end. The new design would give users a more powerful self-service area online, and a simpler way to purchase or renew subscriptions; buying and managing their subscriptions was a very manual process, heavily dependent on phone, letters and back-office agents.
Process
As Lead UX I worked with stakeholders in London and New York; and developers in Canada, to design, prototype and user test responsive designs for purchasing and renewing subscriptions; consolidating a number of existing journeys that were fragmented and inconsistent. I worked alongside BAs, technical analysts, developers, product owners (marketing).
